Lahey named to Eastern League All-Stars
Tim Lahey of Worcester is an Eastern League all-star. The relief pitcher has appeared in 30 games for the Double-A New Britain Rock Cats, going 6-2 with three saves and a 4.06 ERA over 51 innings. Lahey was voted onto the team by fans who text-messaged their selections. Lahey was drafted in the 20th round by the Minnesota Twins in 2004 and converted from a catcher to a pitcher in spring training 2005. The Eastern League All-Star Game will be Wednesday at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, Conn.
Guerin signs two-year deal with Islanders
The New York Islanders finally found a free agent to sign, inking Worcester native Bill Guerin to a two-year contract. Guerin, a four-time All-Star, scored 36 goals last season while splitting time with the St. Louis Blues and San Jose Sharks.
