President Rahmon expresses condolences to President of Turkey over Soma coal mine explosion.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon sent a letter of condolences to President of Turkey Abdullah Gul over an explosion inside the mine at Soma in western Turkey which left at least 274 people dead.

"I am deeply saddened by news of the explosion at the Soma coal mine which claimed a large number of human lives. Please, accept my heartfelt condolences and convey sympathy to the families and friends of the victims," the President's press service cited the letter.

Meanwhile, efforts to rescue scores of miners trapped after an explosion on Tuesday continue. Turkey's Prime Minister promised a thorough investigation into the mining disaster as hundreds protested in the nation's capital.
