Preparing for growth--IFA promotes several staff members and adds finance executive: member enhancement sharpens as IFA staff readies for industry growth.

Scott Lehr Promoted To Lead IFA's U.S. & International Development Program

Scott Lehr, CFE, has been promoted to senior vice president, U.S. & international development, IFA President and CEO Steve Caldeira, CFE, announced. The promotion reflects Lehr's major contributions to the association during his 23-year tenure, specifically his leadership in helping to grow and retain the IFA membership base, across all categories, in a still very challenging economic climate.

"Under Scott's guidance, IFA membership revenue reached an all-time high in 2012, the advertising budget well-surpassed the strategic plan goal, and an aggressive multi-unit franchisee membership recruitment and engagement effort was developed and is now well under way," said Caldeira.

Lehr's work in the international arena has ensured that IFA members have the tools they need to grow and compete in an increasingly global economy. But, more importantly, he is well-respected across the IFA membership, leadership corps and staff, as well as with our global partners as a trusted liaison and critical player with the franchise industry, Caldeira added.

Lehr has been with IFA since 1990, where he has held a number of positions related to membership, marketing, advertising and international development. Serving previously as vice president of development and member services, Lehr was responsible for the recruitment and retention of franchisor, franchisee and supplier members of the association and overseeing IFA's Membership and Advertising departments.

In the previously held position of IFA director of marketing and advertising, Lehr was responsible for the managing all advertising sales and the publishing of IFA's Franchise Opportunities Guide, Franchising World magazine and www.franchise.org, IFA's website.

Prior to the IFA, Lehr held a number of positions in publishing, specializing in advertising and business development.

Lehr is a member of the American Marketing Association, American Society of Association Executives and the Washington, D.C. Advertising Club. He is a Certified Association Executive and graduated from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute of Organizational Management.

Lehr earned a bachelor's degree in business administration with a specialization in marketing from Towson State University in Towson, Md.

Finance, Technology And Administration Expert Bill Grubb Joins IFA

Bill Grubb, CPA, joined IFA Jan. 3, 2013 as senior vice president, finance, administration & conferences.

"Bill Grubb brings a wealth of finance, human resources and organizational operations' experience to the IFA, and we welcome him as a key member of our senior management team," said Caldeira. "The IFA has grown rapidly over the past decade in both human and financial resources, and Bill will help us to stay focused on achieving our aggressive revenue and operational goals to protect, promote and enhance franchising."

Grubb has over 30 years of corporate and trade association experience in finance, administration, information technology and human resources. Most recently, Grubb served as a department head (senior associate), facilities liaison, for Booz Allen Hamilton, where he managed budgeting, equipment procurement, installations and infrastructure configurations for new facilities across the United States. He also has served as director of finance and administration for the Montgomery County Association of REALTORS[R], comptroller for Lane & Edson, ES., a Washington area law firm, director of finance, administration and IT for the American Federation of Information Processing Societies and as senior auditor for Arthur Andersen & Company.

In this newly created position, Grubb will report directly to Caldeira while also coordinating closely with the IFA Treasurer, an elected leadership position in the organization, and serve as the staff liaison to the IFA Finance Committee.

He will oversee all operational, financial and human resources matters, as well as oversee all IFA meetings and conferences, including the annual convention.

"I'm thrilled to be joining the IFA at a time of growth in both the industry and the association," Grubb said. "I look forward to working with the IFA leadership and senior management team on the many new opportunities we have to grow the association even further."

Erica Fitzsimmons and Josh Merin Promoted

Erica Fitzsimmons has been promoted to senior director, political affairs, grassroots advocacy & multiunit franchisee engagement. Fitzsimmons assumed additional responsibilities to support IFA multi-unit franchisee recruitment, a key element of IFA's Strategic Plan.

Josh Merin has been promoted to senior manager, research & strategic initiatives. He will coordinate the IFA Operation Enduring Opportunity/VetFran initiative and support programs in both the international and credit access areas with additional responsibilities to the IFA Educational Foundation.
