Precision Roll Grinders: leaders in roll grinding & repairs for the nonwovens industry.

Precision Roll Grinders, Inc. is North America's leading provider of roll grinding and repair services for the nonwovens industry. Founded in 1970, Precision operates from two plants: a 42,000 sq. ft. facility in Allentown, PA; and a 26,000 sq. ft. facility in Carrollton, GA. Both are specifically equipped and staffed to meet the complete roll maintenance needs of the nonwovens manufacturing mill.

"The nonwovens manufacturer has unique needs," explains Terry Frick, sales manager for Precision Roll Grinders. "It may be a runout problem or the need to generate a special crown or a roll that is not heating evenly. We address these needs on a one-to-one basis and possess the equipment and experience to consistently achieve the customer's needs. That's why Precision is trusted by the nonwovens industry's largest producers."

One example of the Precision difference is its pioneering efforts in hot grinding. The process permits the roll to be reground at operating temperature which, in many cases, provides the only solution for the roll that may distort at the elevated temperatures. "Hot grinding is not universally applied but in the occasional case of a roll with chronic operational problems, it is sometimes the most viable solution," Mr. Frick said.

Given the wide variety of products and production processes in the highly competitive nonwovens industry, Precision maintains a strict policy of confidentiality for every grinding and repair job rendered. "We know the critical importance of proprietary procedures because we have several ourselves. Our systems of job distribution, scheduling and cataloging are based on maintaining 100% confidentiality on all jobs," Mr. Frick explained.

Precision provides roll grinding and repair services for nonwovens rolls of any size and material construction, engraved or smooth.

Tolerances achievable for surface finishes area as fine as 1/4 to 1/2 micro inch AA; total indicator runout of face with respect to journal tolerances are attainable up to [+ or -] 40 millionths of an inch. Other services include journal repair/replacement, roll balancing, cleaning of heating passages, leak repair and pressure testing.

In a business where downtime can cost thousands per hour, Precision's slogan of "On Time. Every Time." is particularly welcome. Both Precision plants are staffed with around-the-clock shifts to ensure that emergency jobs are treated with the same care that has seen this company grow to become the market's leading source for nonwoven roll grinding and repair. "Difficult jobs are handled quickly at Precision," smiles Mr. Frick, "the impossible ones take slightly longer."
