Pre-war units to be auctioned.

Four vacant and 18 occupied residence in two East Side pre-war buildings are going to be sold at an auction on Thursday, May 20.

Carlton Property Auctions has been selected to auction the homes at "142 East 49th Street," a premier pre-war building located between Lexington and Third Avenues. Many of these residences will be sold absolute, to the highest bidder regardless of price.

Included in the parcel of homes being offered are three units located at 324 East 50th Street, just a few blocks from the United Nations, Beckman Place and Sutton Place.

The suggested opening bid for vacant residences in the building, including a one-bedroom penthouse apartment that once listed for $195,250, is a mere $39,000. Such values are unprecedented for luxurious pre-war cooperative apartments.

The 142 East 49th Street auction will take place at The Marriott Eastside Hotel, 525 Lexington Avenue, between 48th and 49th streets. The Auction Information Center is located at 142 East 49th Street, between Lexington and Third Avenue.

The Auction Information Center is open weekdays and weekends from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday from 12 noon to 8 p.m.
