Praise for caring nurse.

A NURSE who has worked at a Liverpool hospital for 26 years was given a special award for being a "model of compassion and caring".

Joan Sawtell was given the Director of Nursing Award in recognition of her outstanding care at The Walton Centre's Annual Nursing Awards.

Director of Nursing Lisa Grant said: "Joan embodies the best qualities in nursing. She is very warm and caring, always patient with patients and making sure that all their needs are met. The feedback from her patients is always full of praise."

Joan was also a runner up for the Health Care Assistant of the Year Award and she will be part of a team designing a new bespoke package of training for health care assistants.

Joan, who lives in Walton, said: "I am very proud to work at The Walton Centre."
