Powerful Prague could prove hard to beat in Salzburg; FOOTBALL.

APOEL v SPARTA PRAGUE 5.30pm IT'S a strong Sparta Prague team contesting the Salzburg Airport Cup in Austria though the curse of the friendly means they aren't really worth a punt against Apoel Nicosia at 11-10, writes Steve Davies.

Sparta were 2-0 up and cruising against SV Ried on Tuesday only to withdraw their foot from the gas, make changes and end up with a 2-2 draw.

The Czechs, who ended their domestic season in May with seven wins and a draw in their last eight matches, have got most of their big-name players there though last season's two top scorers, Leonard Kweuke and Tomas Pekhart, are absentees, the latter having moved to Nuremburg.

Apoel lost 2-0 to Cluj on Monday but the Cypriot champions still have to be respected - unlike the competition itself.

It's 9-4 the draw, something Apoel haven't done in their last 19 matches.

Bet365 - Apoel Nicosia v Sparta Prague: 2 Apoel, 11-10 Sparta, 9-4 draw.
