Powerful Cyclone Approaching Russian Pacific Coast.

Vladivostok, Rabi'I 12, 1434, Jan 24, 2013, SPA -- A powerful cyclone is approaching Russia's Pacific coast. Primorye, Sakhalin and the Khabarovsk region have received a warning. The cyclone will hit the area overnight to Friday.

Icing of ships is forecasted in the ports of Vladivostok, Nakhodka and Posyet in Primorye. Snowstorms and winds with the gusts up to 20 meters per second are expected in the Khabarovsk region. Wind gusts will reach up to 30 meters per second in southern Sakhalin, and visibility amidst snowstorms will be no more than 500 meters, Itar-Tass reported.

An avalanche danger will increase, the press service of the Far Eastern centre of the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations reports. According to the monitoring and forecasting service of the centre, the cyclone may trigger wire breaks, transport disruption and a growing number of road accidents.

Rescue and repair services have been put on alert. Heads of local cities and districts, police, ship owners and port management have been warned about possible emergency situations.
