Power outages, low gas pressure hit Karak area.

KARAK -- The residents of Banda Daud Shah tehsil held a protest demonstration against prolonged power outages and low gas pressure and set a four-day deadline to the Pesco and SNGPL for resolving the issues.

The protesters led by former tehsil nazim Hameddullah and Maulana Rizwan marched on the road to Banda Daud Shah and held a demonstration there.

The speakers on the occasion criticised the authorities for power outages and low gas pressure in the district.

They said that the people had been facing shortage of drinking water and the women had to fetch drinking water from distant areas for domestic use.

The speakers warned that the people would stop paying utility bills if the Peshawar Electric Supply Company did not ensure provision of uninterrupted power supply to the people in the current hot and humid weather.

They also referred to low gas pressure in the gas producing tehsil and claimed that they were using firewood for cooking and other purposes.

They criticised SNGPL for its lame excuses for the low gas pressure and claimed that earlier June 22 deadline was set for the improvement of gas pressure, but it could not happen.

They said that the company had already completed repair of the gas line, but still the people were facing low gas pressure.

Meanwhile, deputy commissioner Shah Rukh Ali Khan asked the relevant quarters to make all drinking water supply schemes functional in the district and submit a report to him in this regard.

The directives were issues during a meeting here on Tuesday, which was attended by Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl MPAs Mian Nisar Gul and Malik Zafar Azam and officials of the concerned departments.

The lawmakers said that people were complaining about drinking water shortage in their areas, but the departments failed to take any steps to resolve the issue.
