Power Looms owners, workers hold protest demonstration against HESCO.
HYDERABAD -- Hundreds of owners and workers of Small Units Power Looms Monday staged a protest demonstration here in front of Hyderabad Press Club against the illegal discontinuation of electric of Power Looms Units Tando Adam by by Hyderabad Electric Supply Company.

Mohammad Sabir Ansari while addressing the demonstrators claimed that hundreds of the owners and workers associated with home based power looms units of Tando Adam went under severe financial constraints following the illegal discontinuation of electric on the directives of Superintendent Engineer Nawabshah and Executive Engineer Tando Adam.
He said that over 400 power-looms units of Tando Adam which established
since last 50 years are contributing around Rs. 15 million in respect of the payment of electricity bills and the regular payers of HESCO, however, they are under severe financial constraints since last two months following the issuance of excessive bills, detected and power discontinuation without serving any notice from HESCO officials.
He claimed that owner of power-looms units have no outstanding dues of
HESCO but the HESCO officials are carrying out such illegal tactics regularly resulting the closure of numbers of power-looms units and unemployment of hundreds of the workers related with this home based industry.
As a result of closure of power-looms units in Tando Adam, he informed
that exporters have stopped payments to owners who are unable to pay salaries to workers in time.
The situation has been brought into the notice of Chief Executive
Officer HESCO Asadullah Durrani but the owners of power-looms units have still not received any relief from HESCO management, he said and added that as a result of such situation, the owners and workers of power-looms units of Tando Adam have found no way except to come out on roads and protest against such injutices.
He also demanded the strict departmental action against Superintending Engineers HESCO Nawabshah and Executive Engineer HESCO Tando Adam on charge of their anti-consumers policy.
