Pouched vegetables on consumer demand.

As consumer's interest in Oriental food continues to burgeon, so does the demand for traditional accompaniments and ingredients in a convenient format. To maximize sales in this area, Oriental food specialist Blue Dragon is introducing a range of classic Oriental vegetables in clear pouches that can be added straight to the wok to create a stir-fry for two. In a recent report, Mintel predicted a huge surge in popularity for high quality, easy to prepare and healthy Asian foods, The Blue Dragon launch range of vegetables in pouches packed fresh are; Sliced Bamboo Shoots, Baby Swcetcorn and Whole Water Chestnuts. They fit perfectly with this trend, while also meeting the needs of the growing number of one and two-person households. Vacuum packed for freshness in water or lightly salted water, the vegetables are of the highest quality. Sliced bamboo shoots, baby corncobs and water chestnuts each have a crisp texture, which make them the perfect addition to all types of Oriental dishes. The products come in a displayready tray that gives them extra presence on-shelf. The packaging has been designed to encourage consumers to keep the vegetables as a store cupboard ingredient and to use not only in Oriental recipes, but in salads and other dishes. To use, all the consumer needs to do is snip the pack open and drain and rinse the vegetables, which can be stir-flied, boiled or served raw as a crunchy salad ingredient.
