Potholes are a death trap; Views of the North.

WELL done Guy Opperman for making the point (The Journal, January 23) that Northumberland County Council have allowed our roads to become a death trap.

Please tell me it is a misprint that Mr Styring, the Liberal county councillor, is fixing roads with "a bucket of bodge". I fear not.

Everyone in my area has one chief complaint and that is the state of the roads. The potholes are huge and in places, genuinely dangerous. People on motorcycles and bicycles are particularly vulnerable to serious injury. The council is a PS600m business. Surely the roads should be prioritised, fixed properly and in a better state. The sad truth is this county council is a disgrace. J ROBINSON, Hexham, Northumberland
