POSTSCRIPT: OpCon East, our first industry conference, got off to a bang-up start, with near-capacity attendance on all four days and rave reviews for our sessions and workshops. We seem to have uncovered an important market--software managers and professionals who deal with the nuts-and-bolts, practical side of the business. We're encouraged by the fact that we could deliver an event of real value to this audience.

We're already beginning to make plans for OpCon West (March 12-15, 1991, at the Hyatt Rickey's, Palo Alto, Calif.). Like OpCon East, we're organizing the conference as a series of four one-day events, each devoted to a single area of software operations. The four days will cover software manufacturing, tech support, product management, and sales and marketing. During each day, we'll offer a combination of formal presentations, issues-oriented discussions, and lots of specialized workshops. The schedule of workshops is still open, so we're eager to hear suggestions and proposals for topics and speakers.

Judging from the turnout at OpCon East, incidentally, our West Coast session should sell out well before March. we'll continue to impose an attendance limit (125 people per day), because our goal is to preserve the kind of personal interaction that a small-scale event fosters. Soft*letter subscribers and previous OpCon attendees will get first crack at OpCon seats through November; thereafter, it's first come, first served. (The daily rate, incidentally, is still a very reasonable $395 per person, with a $100 discount for PC/Computing advertisers.) If you're interested in more information, please give us a call at 617/924-3944 and we'll keep you posted on the latest details.
