Postie takes to slopes.

A POSTIE has overcome his fear of heights to participate in a military regimental ski trip in France.

Corporal David Rankin, 48, from Newcastle, is an Army Reservist with Command and Support Squadron of the Queen's Own Yeomanry in Fenham Barracks.

More used to pounding the streets delivering mail to residents in Jesmond, Davy tried his hand for the rst time at skiing when the opportunity came along to attend his annual regimental trip to the French ski resort of Val D'Isere, where they compete in the Yeomanry Ski Championships.

Petried of heights, Davy used a unique way of overcoming those fears on the ski lifts by placing his woolly hat over his eyes and placing his ski goggles over the top to "blind" himself from the vast drops below, earning him a trophy for bravery.
