Post-Y2K Woes? Blockbuster has Movies That Actually Live Up to the Hype; `Armageddon' is as Close as Your Local Blockbuster Store.

Business Editors

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 3, 2000

Hoping for a little more excitement that you got New Year's Eve? Need a break from calculating your losses on that unused generator, and deciding how you'll make use of the 50 lb. sack of wheat in your garage? If the predicted catastrophe of Y2K didn't live up to your expectations, Blockbuster (NYSE:BBI) has a few films that might help.

"We realize that some people were expecting to spend this week by candlelight, cuddled up by their fireplace and battery-operated radio, listening to news of widespread panic," said Dean Wilson, chief worldwide merchandising officer for Blockbuster. "But since your VCR is still working, why not rent a movie that can help ease the disappointment?"

The following films, although not directly about Y2K, include alien invasions, nuclear close calls, computers that control the world and more. So, open a can of cold green beans, grab some of that bottled water, turn off all the lights, and pretend like you're a part of it.
