Post Soap Box: Spent well.

Byline: Tim Jones

LET'S get the facts straight on the money we've spent on transfers.

Since Houllier left, as a club we've spent pounds 41m (Cisse, Alonso, Morientes, Garcia, Josemi, Carson) but recouped pounds 17m from sales (Owen, Heskey, Murphy), meaning we've spent pounds 24m net.

That's what Chelsea spent on one dodgy player (Drogba) and we more than recouped that via the Champions League success. Take Cisse and Heskey out of these figures as the deals were done before Rafa arrived and Rafa has spent pounds 27m but recouped pounds 11m from sales, meaning he's spent pounds 16m net. To win the Champions League on pounds 16m or pounds 24m is a pretty fair return I reckon
