Positive results achieved in respect of NFC award: CM.

HYDERABAD, November 08, 2009 (Balochistan Times): Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said the government has achieved positive results in respect of National Finance Commission (NFC) Award and it has been engaged in dialogues with its allied parties as PPP government believes in democracy, peoples welfare and integrity of the country. The Chief Minister expressed these views in a brief chat with media persons on the occasion of wedding ceremony of the daughter of Senator Maula Bux Chandio here at Qasimabad late Saturday night. Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that the observation of Sindh Government regarding sales tax on government services has been accepted, which he said is a success of Sindh government as the province always receive 40 percent less than its share in the NFC on the basis of population. Responding to a question about minus one formula, the Chief Minister rejected the notion and made it clear that he never talked about minus one formula. The dialogues with MQM in Dubai aimed that PPP fully believed to ensure democratic norms and its weakness is only the democracy, welfare of masses, integrity and stability of the country, he said and added that supremacy of the Constitution is the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. Replying to a question about NRO, Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that because of some misunderstandings, the government has decided not to table it in the Parliament. The PPP has full respect to judiciary and it the court summoned the President and Prime Minister, they will feel no hesitation as the PPP hoped that the decisions will be made on merit, he added. To another question, Qaim Shah said the government has initiated development projects in the province to the tune of Rs 75 billion and development schemes under Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Programme is also being implemented in letter and spirit aimed to provide maximum facilities to the masses at their doorsteps.
