Portugal : Government extends again the critical period of fires.

Following a further assessment of the meteorological conditions, the Government again extended the critical period of fire, taking into account "the probable absence of significant precipitation".

This is a circumstance that 'promotes the maintenance of the fire hazard indexes above values ??typical of the current time of year', can be read in the order of the Secretary of State for Forests and Rural Development, Miguel Joo de Freitas, published in Dirio da Repblica.

The document states that "in view of the above, it is considered prudent to maintain the adoption of special measures and actions to prevent forest fires occurring during the critical period under the Forest Fire Protection System".

For this reason, "the critical period under the Forest Fire Protection System (...) due to exceptional meteorological circumstances" is extended until November 23, "can be read in the Order that comes into force on November 17, 2017.

During the critical period of fires, in forest or agricultural areas, it is prohibited to:

smoking, lighting or bonfires;

burning or burning;

launch rockets and flasks of lit wick;

fumigate or disinfect apiaries, unless fumigators are fitted with sparking devices;

Circulate tractors, heavy duty machinery and vehicles that do not have a fire extinguisher, sparking system or sparks, and flap flaps on the exhaust pipes or chimneys.
