Portugal : 50% more votes in the Participatory Budget Portugal in 2018.

The Participatory Budget Portugal - 2018 Edition registered 119 703 votes, representing a growth of 50% compared to the previous year. This increase is a very positive signal on people's adherence to participatory citizenship initiatives.

The number of votes in regional projects far exceeded the number of votes in national projects. In total, the projects for the regions received 71 125 votes, while the national ones received 48 578. This meant that the creation of project categories by regions with non-competing financial allocations was a good bet.

Projects in the northern region registered 28 688 votes, representing a total of 40%. Concerning the areas of the 691 projects that were put to the vote, the culture was the one that presented the most applications, having received a total of 44 431 votes.
