Port of LA Releases Baseline-setting Emissions Inventory.

The Port of Los Angeles recently announced the release of a new baseline-setting air emissions inventory, as well as a "comprehensive plan for achieving Mayor Jim Hahn's goal of no net increase in air emissions at the port."

According to the Port of LA, the baseline air emissions inventory captures the specifics of the emissions in the air as of 2001, with emissions inventoried including nitrous oxide, total organic gases, carbon monoxide, particulate matter less than 10 microns, particulate matter less than 2.5 microns and sulfur dioxide.

Using an activity-based approach, the port said the inventory focuses on five emissions sources -- ocean-going vessels, harbor craft, off-road cargo handling equipment, railroad locomotives and on-road heavy-duty vehicles.
