Pony found abandoned.

AN injured and blinded pony was found abandoned beside a country road near St Mellons Business Park on Saturday.

The brown pony had a makeshift rope head collar which was causing injury and swollen eyes, leaving it unable to see, said the RSPCA.

It was also covered in blood from an injury to its left foreleg just above the hoof and was taken into care by the charity.

Inspector Liz Walker said: "We are not entirely sure what has happened to this poor pony but it's most likely an abandonment, and yet another terrible example of how we treat our equine friends these days.

"This situation has got to stop."
