Ponty pride not enough; COLOMIERS 35 PONTYPRIDD 21.

PONTYPRIDD were too generous in their line-outs and gave away a crippling early lead.

The home side's line-out jumpers Gildas Moro and Phillipe Revallier took crucial possession from Pontypridd that led to tries by Bernard De Giusti and Benjamin Lhande.

Neil Jenkins marshalled Pontypridd's attack well throughout the game with some tactical kicking and a neat flick pass gave replacement Simon Enoch a last chance try.

Colomiers never hesitated in attack and when Lhande made a break from more line-out possession, Fabien Galthie took a pass from David Skrela to take any Pontypridd victory out of sight.

David James scored an early reply from a typical quick possession at a ruck which was ably used by scrum-half Paul John.

Kevin Morgan's speed was evident as he outran the Colomiers three-quarters to save Pontypridd from certain tries.
