Polish Migrants in UK to Protest against Discrimination.

TEHRAN (FNA)- Over 1,000 Poles residing in the United Kingdom are expected to go on strike in London on Thursday in protest against discrimination.

At least 1,000 people have registered to attend the strike outside the British Parliament, organized by the Polish Express newspaper. Polish immigrants employed in the United Kingdom are set to forgo work for one day to demonstrate the extent to which the UK economy depends on them, The Guardian reported Thursday.

"Let's show the British how wrong they are in their accusations towards migrants and how much our contribution to the development of the British economy is undervalued," the Polish Express newspaper posted on a Facebook page dedicated to the strike.

The British Poles Initiative group said the strike was important to "counter the discrimination of Poles in the UK", but suggested that the Poles should donate their blood to the National Health Service instead of protesting.

According to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, almost 680,000 Polish migrants were living the United Kingdom as of the end of 2014. Media reports in 2015 put the number of Poles in the country at 800,000.
