NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: An improvised explosive device attached to a policeman's vehicle went off in northern Mosul city on Sunday but the policeman survived unscathed, a security source in Ninewa said.

"A sticky IED attached to a policeman's vehicle went off in al-Sokkar neighborhood, northern Mosul, but the policeman, who was outside his vehicle escaped the attempt as he was outside his vehicle when the car was blown away," the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

The policeman was on a leave of absence when the attack occurred, he added.
