Police probe shooting at gas station.

WORCESTER - Police last night were investigating a shooting at the Sunoco gas station at the well-lighted intersection of Route 20 and Greenwood Street, near Millbury and Auburn.

According to police radio reports, the shooting may have been in connection with an attempted carjacking. Officers were heard saying they were looking for three men in a gray sedan. It was not immediately clear whether anyone was seriously injured, but an ambulance was called to the scene.

Some time after 9 p.m., officers at the gas station were examining a red car, which later was towed from the scene. They interviewed several witnesses at the station at 527 Southwest Cutoff.

Auburn, Millbury and Worcester police officers and a Worcester Police Evidence Recovery Unit van were at the gas station, which remained open for business.

A station clerk said he didn't know what happened because he was just coming on duty.
