Police looking for man after garage arsoned.

Police are looking for 27-year-old Mario Kalaintzi, a Greek national living in the Nicosia district, in connection with arson at a Lakatamia car workshop, an offence committed around 3.10am on Friday.

Anybody who can assist in identifying the man should contact Nicosia police at 22-802222, any police station or the citizens hotline at 1460.

At 3.18am, three fire trucks were employed to battle a fire at a Lakatamia car workshop.

It was put out at 4.35am but a number of vehicles, motorcycles and other equipment were damaged.

Three vehicles outside were also affected.

The causes of the fire were investigated on the spot by the fire service and police and it was initially believed the fire was caused by electrical or mechanical damage in one of the vehicles in the workshop for repair.
