Police hunt two after OAP murder.

POLICE launched a murder inquiry last night, after an elderly woman died following a robbery in her own home.

Margaret Hawkins was attacked by two men in her house in Charterhouse Road, Orpington, Kent, on Friday afternoon, and died later in hospital.

The two men forced their way into the property and pushed Mrs Hawkins over before making off with cash and personal belongings.

Apost-mortem carried out at the Princess Royal University Hospital revealed that Mrs Hawkins, who was in her 80s, died as a direct result of the incident.

The suspects are both white men aged between 25 and 40. One is described as of very heavy build, with cropped brown hair and a fringe, and the other of slim build, with brown hair.

Acting Detective Chief Inspector Russell Taylor, from the Metropolitan Police, said: "Margaret was an extremely popular woman and her tragic death has understandably left the local community shocked.

"I amurging anyone who was in the vicinity of Charterhouse Road or the surrounding area between 13.30 and 14.30 on Friday to contact police."
