Police faced violent drunk.

AN ENRAGED reveller dared police to restrain him with gas as he was thrown out of a Quayside bar.

Doormen were forced to pin back Lee James Foster when he lost control on December 21, the day notoriously known as "Black Friday" among the emergency services.

When police arrived and told Foster they would use spray on him if he failed to clam down he shouted back at them: "You just gas me and see what happens."

Kicking, punching and shouting abuse at bar staff, violent Foster was bundled into the back of a police van where he urinated on the floor.

Yesterday he pleaded guilty in writing to Newcastle magistrates to being drunk and disorderly.

The court heard police were called to Newcastle's Quayside at 9.25pm. On arrival they immediately saw Foster being restrained by doormen.

Foster was fined a total of pounds 108, including a pounds 50 fine, pounds 43 costs and a pounds 15 victim surcharge.
