Police chief in sex sting.

MIAMI: A senior Miami policeman, in line to become the Florida city's police chief, has been reassigned after allegedly soliciting sex from an undercover officer in his own department.

The Miami-Dade attorney's office is now deciding whether to charge Maj Juan Garcia, said police spokesman Lt Bill Schwartz.

He said Maj Garcia was pulled over during a late-night sting operation but was not immediately arrested. Meanwhile, he will continue to be paid and has been assigned to a desk job.

A city police source said that Maj Garcia was stopped after leaving a farewell party in Miami Beach for former assistant police chief.
