Point-of-care CT system.

Carestream Health has received FDA clearance and begun marketing its new CS 9300 point-of-care computed tomography system to otolaryngology and allergy practices in the United States.

According to the company, the system offers low acquisition and operating costs. It provides practitioners with immediate access to CT images, for faster, more accurate diagnosis and treatment. The CS 9300's cone beam CT technology delivers up to 94% less radiation dose than conventional CT units. The system includes the tools and services needed for point-of-care CT imaging, including comprehensive onsite and remote CT accreditation support.

The CS 9300 system offers a broad range of image resolutions (0.09- to 0.5-ram slice thickness) and five selectable sinus and temporal bone fields of view, ranging from 5 x 5 cm to 17 x 13.5 cm. It delivers higher-resolution images than conventional CT units and other cone beam CT devices, the company states.
