Poindexter to Receive Business Alliance Award.

FORT BELVOIR, Va., Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Lt. Col. Van L. Poindexter is one of 17 industry partners to be honored Jan. 20 with Business Alliance Awards presented by the Defense Logistics Agency in Fairfax, Va. The awards recognize those who have demonstrated outstanding efforts to partner with DLA and improve the agency's mission -- providing supplies and services to America's war fighters.

DLA Director Navy Vice Admiral Keith W. Lippert will present the annual awards during a luncheon at the Hyatt Fair Lakes hotel.

The agency's primary role is to provide supplies and services to America's military services worldwide and includes managing more than 4 million consumable items, including rations, medical supplies and equipment, clothing and textiles, and repair parts for land, sea and air weapons systems and platforms.

Poindexter, Weapon Systems Support Flight Commander for the Pacific Air Forces Regional Supply Squadron at Hickam Air Force Base, was nominated by Defense Supply Center Richmond, Va., for the Defense Logistics Agency Commander's Choice Award. The award is presented to the non-DLA person whose dedication and commitment to the DLA mission affects the quality of life for U.S. men and women in uniform.

His award citation states, "Poindexter has emerged as an outstanding leader among Defense Supply Center Richmond aviation customers. He is directly responsible for providing superior regionalized mission-capable supply support to more than 386 aircraft, 886 engines and 17,892 vehicles and aerospace ground equipment assets valued at more than $70 billion. He has shown unprecedented commitment to forge partnerships with Defense Logistics Agency, resulting in DLA pinpointing and improving parts support issues for O/A-10, F- 15 and F-16 aircraft weapon systems. His detailed weapon systems supportability analyses contributed immensely to DLA's astounding 90 percent supply availability rates."

The Defense Logistics Agency provides supply support, and technical and logistics services to the military services and to several civilian agencies. Headquartered at Fort Belvoir, the agency is the one source for nearly every consumable item, whether for combat readiness, emergency preparedness or day- to-day operations.
