HOLLYWOOD WINS Saturday morning was a weekly treat With moving pictures and a threepenny seat. Cowboys and Indians filled the screen And the Lone Ranger was handsome and clean.

Then James Cagney shot from the hip And Humphrey Bogart lisped the smart quip. English was spoken by common consent With a distinct American accent.

During the war we saw the Yanks Leading the way in their Sherman tanks. And movies defined the way we saw How Errol Flynn won the war.

In the long period of partial peace A B-side 'has-been' gained fresh lease. Ronald Reagan returned to say "I am the President of the USA".

In the magic wrought on silver screens The screenwriter's art has many means. They could send the 'Feds' to guard our shops Or the UK branch of the Keystone Kops.
