Poets' corner.

THE SPRING OF THE VOLCANIC ASH 2010 We shouldn't really be here, we should be there, in Spain But volcanic ash from Iceland has grounded us, again.

Our first try was in April but all airports here were shut, All stranded abroad, no contingency plans, not adequate.

We only wanted some sunshine after all that cold and snow But the volcanic ash decreed that we just could not go.

We booked again to go in May and everything looked fair, We checked in, and at departures the announcement did declare Again our flight was cancelled but they never told us why, That damned volcanic ash had settled now in the Spanish sky.

We now have given up trying for a springtime holiday And settled for an autumn break and hope we get away.
