Plexus Division of BancTec and Diamond Head Software Announce Plans to Offer Development Components Based on Plexus Imaging and Workflow Products

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Plexus(R) Division of BancTec(R) (NYSE: BTC) and Diamond Head Software(TM) today announced an agreement for the companies to cooperate in development of a line of new Diamond Head Visual Basic development components based on the popular Plexus family of Imaging and Workflow products.

The agreement will result in Diamond Head expanding its flagship ImageBASIC development environment, a product "toolkit" family of standard components based on a number of industry best of breed product technologies, to now include imaging and workflow Active-X controls specifically built around the Plexus enterprise class products including ObjectServer(TM), StorageManager(TM) and FloWare(R). In addition to cooperating in the development activities, the agreement also calls for both product lines to be jointly marketed and supported by the respective companies, and for Plexus, as a result of the jointly anticipated market demand, to provide development funding through purchase of initial quantities for resale and internal development use.

Diamond Head's ImageBASIC has been cited as a leading innovative product line and has won numerous awards by combining a flexible and powerful development package with a wide range of applications component functionality that meets the evolving requirements of the business community. Plexus, a leading supplier of imaging and workflow tools and solutions, has repeatedly proven its ability to provide customers in more than 40 countries with powerful, scaleable imaging and production workflow solutions to meet the needs of high level, production intensive, enterprise solution needs.

According to John A. Torkelson, vice president and general manager of Plexus, "Plexus' business strategy is to significantly expand its role as a leading supplier of software tools, components and applications for business critical operations, and this partnership with Diamond Head is supportive of this strategy in several ways. First, the resulting products will provide customers with the choice of constructing their imaging applications based on either Plexus' powerful Application Designer (AD) development tool or the broadly supported Visual Basic environment. In addition, these new workflow components will offer Plexus' FloWare customers with an exciting new level of integration yielding rapid application implementation and deployment capability. Finally, they will provide high level workflow control objects to facilitate operational management and control."

Bill Burke, president of Diamond Head Software, commented, "Diamond Head's ImageBASIC environment integrates imaging and workflow technologies from leading industry suppliers. We are very pleased to expand and strengthen the range of our functionality by addition of a fully featured workflow component set based on the Plexus ObjectServer, StorageManager and FloWare products. With the addition of support for Plexus' industrial strength product line, ImageBASIC becomes an even more compelling development environment of choice for systems integrators and corporate developers. ImageBASIC can now be used to develop client applications that integrate natively with almost all of the leading corporate imaging systems."
