Plasterer in the mix for world title; SKILLS.

APPRENTICE plasterer Gary Condon is hoping to smooth his way to glory for Ireland again in an international skills contest.

Gary, from Waterford, is part of a team of trainees from around the country vying to win WorldSkills Competition 2011 in London from tomorrow.

Backed by construction firm Gyproc, he is going for his third gold.

Gyproc boss Brian Dolan said: "We are delighted to lend our support to Gary who has already won the Irish title in both 2010 and 2011.

"WorldSkills is an opportunity to showcase the high level of skill within Ireland, offering the perfect opportunity to enhance our image abroad."
