Plans for the future on show in Shelley hall.

SHELLEY Community Association has been calling on the public to love their village hall - and take a glimpse into the future.

There was a lively atmosphere at Shelley Village Hall on Saturday for the special community centre day, with music, videos, balloons and children's games.

It was also an opportunity to mark the official launch of The Shelley Village Plan.

It is the culmination of two years' consultation with residents as to how they view the future of the village.

A copy of the proposals has been delivered to every household in the village.

The free event was funded by Voluntary Action Kirklees.

Groups who participated included Shelley Community Association, Shelley Over 60s Club, The Pierrot Players, Shelley Art Group, the Post Office, Rainbows and Cub Scouts.

Other village groups included the Methodist Church and Shelley Strollers.

Sovereign Gym organised the children's games and there was free face painting alongside competitions and refreshments.
