Planex Communications Inc. Selects Bandspeed's New Virtual Controller Software for the AirMaestro(TM) Platform.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Bandspeed, the leader in Wi-Fi infrastructure solutions for the mass market, today announced that Planex Communications Inc. will incorporate the Virtual Controller software for the AirMaestro platform into its new Wi-Fi access point (AP) and WLAN network solutions.

The Bandspeed AirMaestro with Virtual Controller is the industry's first WLAN solution to offer SMEs and service providers a complete "Wireless Office in a Box" featuring simplified deployment, remote accessibility and centralized management to enable a superior wireless experience. It is the ideal solution for demanding WLAN deployments that require robust support for clear voice-over-Wi-Fi calls and enhanced WLAN security - features that are integral to the new Planex solution.

Planex previously announced the selection of Bandspeed's AirMaestro Light Edition (LE), which enables the cost-effective deployment and management of automated, robust, and secure enterprise-class Wi-Fi networks for up to 5 APs. The Virtual Controller software extends this capability for up to 25 APs, with further enhancements to network security, manageability and functionality. These include:

* Clear Voice-over-Wi-Fi calls. The Virtual Controller provides fast roaming and load balancing for voice calls. Fast roaming between APs occurs in less than 50 milliseconds, ensuring calls are not disrupted.

* Enhanced WLAN Security. The Virtual Controller extends Rogue AP detection to provide WLAN firewall capability through Rogue AP mitigation. It also provides enhanced guest services, with support for up to 16 BSSIDs per access point, each assignable to a unique VLAN.

* Easy Deployment, Use and Management. The Virtual Controller's enhanced management console makes centralized monitoring and WLAN management simple and remotely accessible. Multiple RF monitor and WLAN network views are provided through the management console, and wizard-driven tools simplify WLAN service deployment and modification across the network.

"Bandspeed is pleased to expand our relationship with Planex with their adoption of the Virtual Controller software for the AirMaestro platform," said Bill Eversole, president and CEO, Bandspeed. "Enabled by Bandspeed technology, Planex solutions will deliver the user experience that the wireless industry has been waiting for."

"With the Bandspeed AirMaestro with Virtual Controller software, we now offer the industry's most complete and cost-effective WLAN solution to our customers," said Katsuaki Kubota, CEO of Planex Communications Inc. "Bandspeed has delivered on its promise to provide the SME market with a world-class, yet affordable WLAN solution, and we are pleased to be associated with them."
