Plan to provide home choice.

A NEW scheme aimed at offering social housing tenants a flexible housing choice is being introduced in Northumberland.

Government funding has allowed a new lettings scheme to be introduced across the county.

It means tenants will have a greater choice of what is in their area.

A new project manager, Rachel Collings, has been appointed.

She is based at Blyth Valley Housing and will work with new project officer Louise Ray.

This sub-regional approach to advertising vacant homes will make for a one-stop access point to vacancies, information and housing options advice.

The proposal is to advertise properties from local authority stock, housing associations, private rented homes and low-cost home ownership options throughout Northumberland.

Rachel Collings said: "We will be consulting with residents in Northumberland to seek their views on the creation of a one-stop approach."
