Pitt in fast lane for surveyors.

BIRMINGHAM property consultant Ian Pitt has been named as the new chairman of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors West Midlands.

Mr Pitt, partner at the Birmingham office of Bruton Knowles, is a member of the RICS WM regional board and acted as vice-chairman for outgoing chairman Gurdip Chamba from Solihull-based Salway Bradbury Chartered Surveyors.

Mr Pitt said: "Gurdip has done such a tremendous job, and he will be a tough act to follow.

"I want to further explore the ways in which RICS West Midlands can help the industry through what continues to be a challenging year.

"With 7,500 members in our region handling business estimated at well over pounds 130 billion we have an important part to play in shaping the future of the commercial property sector, both regionally and nationally, in the current uncertain market."
