Pirdey goal beats Tomahawks.

COLUMN: HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP

BOYS' SOCCER

Westboro 2, Algonquin 1: Jake Pirdey scored midway through the second half to snap a 1-1 tie and lift the visiting Rangers (8-7-2) past the No. 2 Tomahawks (12-3-3).

Loic Penninck scored in the first half for Westboro, while Mike Wood tallied for Algonquin.

Bay Path 1, AMSA 0: Senior captain Nick Maselay set up his second winning goal in three days, a header by sophomore Troy Nicholas in the 65th minute, as the Minutemen (10-6-2) edged the visiting Eagles (10-6-2) in Charlton in the regular-season finale for both teams.

Maselay also assisted on senior captain Lucas Mironidis' goal in a 1-0 win over Monty Tech on Thursday.

Junior Brandon Hevy had the shutout in both games, giving him seven on the season. He had seven saves yesterday and six against the Bulldogs.

St. John's Prep 7, St. John's 1: Seniors Dean Ebbert and Sean Berube each had a goal and an assist as the Eagles (14-1-2) rolled.

Groton-Dunstable 4, Quabbin 1: Senior Alex Murphy scored two goals and Doug Rosa and Nate Pomeroy had one each for the No. 5 Crusaders (12-2-4, 9-0-1 Midland B), who are undefeated in their last 14 games (11-0-3).

Ryan Wine scored for the visiting Panthers (4-10-3, 3-6-1) in the 18th minute.

Tantasqua 3, Auburn 0: The visiting Warriors (11-7, 10-4) clinched the SWCL Central with a shutout of the Rockets (4-10-4, 4-9-4). Senior co-captain Robbie Beauchemin scored the winner in the 13th minute, his first goal of the season.

Liam Sequin finished with a goal and two assists, Tyler Cave added a goal, and senior co-captain Jake Nichols (eight saves) posted his third shutout.

Worcester Academy 3, Kimball Union 0: Brice Koval scored three minutes into the game, and Graham Koval and Andrew Clothier added second-half goals to lift the visiting Hilltoppers (10-1-2).

Jake Stewart (six saves) posted his sixth shutout.

GIRLS' SOCCER

Algonquin 2, Westboro 0: Amanda Murphy scored in the 19th minute and Michaela Horne added a goal less than four minutes into the second half to boost the second-ranked Tomahawks (13-2-3) past the visiting Rangers (11-4-3).

Sarah Jackson made four saves in the shutout.

Auburn 2, Tantasqua 0: Samantha Moreau scored the winner in the 11th minute and Kayla Almstrom added a second-half insurance goal to lift the No. 9 Rockets (11-2-4) past the visiting Warriors (7-8-2).

Jordann Hauge made five saves in the shutout.

Marlboro 4, Hudson 0: Anna McCabe had two goals and an assist, Julie Corey and Colleen Condry also scored, and Amanda Monfalcone (two saves) posted her ninth shutout for the No. 4 Panthers (11-2-4) on the road.

Shrewsbury 2, Quabbin 1: Hayley Orciuch scored with a minute and a half left to snap a 1-1 tie for the No. 10 Colonials in Barre. Shrewsbury's other score was an own-goal.

Madison Waldron had the goal for the Panthers (11-7).

FIELD HOCKEY

Auburn 4, Tantasqua 0: Jamie McNamara scored twice, Mary Grace Judge and Jackie Matthews also scored, and Sarah Palace posted her 15th shutout of the season as the host Rockets (15-1-2) rolled in their regular-season finale.

Groton-Dunstable 3, Fitchburg 0: Lauren Johnson scored twice and Shelly Herlihy once as the host Crusaders finished 5-10-3.

Elizabeth Gonzalez had three saves for her second shutout of the season.

Nipmuc 7, Douglas 0: Seniors Kaitlin Massey, Sara Dodd and Maddi LaPlant-Dude scored for the Warriors (10-4-4, 6-2 Dual Valley) on Senior Day in Upton.

Danielle Schiloski led Nipmuc with two goals.

Quaboag 3, Minnechaug 2: Senior Allyson Sweet scored with 11:23 to play, with junior sister Dani Sweet assisting, to give the host Cougars (16-1-1) the eventual winner against the Falcons (10-5-3).

Allyson Sweet had an assist, while Andrea Koslowski and Kayla Klein added goals. Ali Cote made nine saves.

GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL

Worcester Academy 3, Lawrence Academy 0: Margaret Gardner had 16 kills and four blocks and Alysa White added five blocks and three kills to lead the host Hilltoppers (12-4) to a 25-19, 25-19, 25-13 victory over Lawrence Academy (1-11).
