FRANCE is under pressure to lift its illegal ban on British beef and so avoid a pounds 100million fine for breaking EU rules.

French farmers, protecting their own livelihoods, have told shoppers to avoid British beef if it goes back on sale there. I doubt they'll have a difficult job. If we'd seen news footage of French cows wobbling around their farmyards and pictures of French people dying from CJD, would we want to eat their beef?
