Pinckneyville man charged with DUI after crash.

A 58-year-old Pinckneyville man, Jerry L. McDaniels, was arrested for driving under the influence following a single-vehicle accident on Jan. 11.

According to the Perry County Sheriffs Office, McDaniels was driving a Mercury passenger car westbound on State Route 154 near Conant Road. McDaniels, according to the accident report, told police he had consumed too much alcohol to be driving, failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and struck a ditch.

The vehicle sustained damage to both its front and rear and was towed from the scene by Emlings Towing Service. The accident was reported at 8:06 p.m.

McDaniels was cited for DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper lane usage.
