Pig's head was found on vehicle; CAR OWNER'S SHOCK AT FIND.
A SKINNED animal's head was dumped on the windscreen of a Tyneside car in the second sickening discovery within weeks.
The bloody remains of what is believed to have been a pig's head were discovered by the car's owner when they awoke on Tuesday morning.
It was wedged onto the front of the vehicle, which was parked near Dove Row, in Cullercoats, North Tyneside.
The find comes just days after the Chronicle revealed a severed pig's head was discovered on the doorstep of a woman in a gruesome scene likened to Mafia movie The Godfather. It is understood the two incidents are unrelated, but police are continuing their investigations into both matters.
One man, who did not want to be named, said: "I was walking to work and I spotted this pig's head on the front windscreen.
"It was a fairly big slab of meat. It was really quite frightening, and it was so big I thought it was a massive leg of meat.
"It's quite worrying to have something like this happen near where you work and live."
A Northumbria Police spokeswoman confirmed inquiries were ongoing in a bid to track down the culprits.
She said: "We have received a report of a skinned animal head left on a car overnight in the Cullercoats area. It was discovered on Tuesday. "The matter is being dealt with by the local neighbourhood beat manager, who is liaising with the caller and offering support. It is unclear why this was left on the car."
Meanwhile on Sunday, just metres away from where the severed head was found, five wild pigeons were discovered dead in the street.
Police believe the birds were killed with an air rifle after a shooting spree in John Street, Cullercoats, North Tyneside.
It comes just days after we revealed how a severed pig's head was ditched outside a woman's home in the outer west area of Newcastle on August 6. A policeman's helmet was strapped to its head and a cigar was stuffed in its mouth.
One woman, who did not want to be named, said: "I heard about it and I think it's terrible.
"Apparently there was blood everywhere and there was a cigar and a police hat.
"They must have waited until she went to sleep because it was her neighbour who told her that it had been left.
"She knocked on her door, and when she came down she just found this pig's head.
"It's terrifying because you don't know what people are capable of when they are doing that sort of thing. It was like something from The Godfather."
In The Godfather, starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino, a Hollywood director who crosses Mafia boss Don Corleone wakes up to find the severed head of his prize $600,000 stud horse in his bed.
