Children in Need 2010 BBC1, 7pm It's mid-November, the nights have drawn in, it's cold outside and everyone's starting to panic about Christmas. When all those factors converge, it can mean only one thing - yes, Children in Need is about to take place. Terry Wogan and Tess Daly present a heap of celebrity performances to inspire you to pledge money to this worthy cause. Among the highlights are appearances by JLS and Take That, and a chance to see a clip from the Doctor Who Christmas special.

But we really should spare a thought for Britain's white van men, as they go through the exact same recession as us, looking to make a profit for their businesses by whatever means possible. This week, a welder who has branched out into buying and revamping unwanted items is given the job of dismantling an old funeral home.
