NIA VARDALOS stars in the comedy spin-off from the low-budget film she wrote and starred in last year which became a box-office smash.

She's the Greek-American girl who marries a Yankee, much to her Greek family's distress. Maria is at a loss for something to do when Nick moves into his own apartment.

DRAMA

DALZIEL AND PASCOE

(UK Gold, 9.00pm)

WARREN CLARKE plays old-time copper Dalziel who is stuck with whizz-kid graduate Pascoe in the enjoyable adapations of Reginald Hill's novels.

A mysterious death at the local hunt turns into a murder investigation and Dalziel and Pascoe soon find their investigation is throwing up more suspects than leads.

REAL LIFE

PREMIERSHIP PRIORY

(BBC3, 11.05pm)

FORMER England captain Tony Adams set up his Sporting Chance clinic two years ago to help other athletes fight the same sort of addictions that almost wrecked his own career.

This programme has gained unprecedent access to the sporting world's answer to the Priory to follow the stars struggling to regain control of their lives.
