Pic, producer share face time. (Double `Agent'?).
"Agent Cody Banks" and producer David Glasser--separated at birth?
Hollywood execs can be forgiven if they do double takes at the one-sheets for "Cody Banks" plastering Los Angeles. Although ads for the MGM film feature its star, 16-year-old Frankie Muniz, the thesp looks a heck of a lot like baby-faced Splendid Pictures CEO Glasser, who produced "Cody Banks."
Might the pic, which details the adventures of an adolescent-turned-secret agent, be a sort of wish fulfillment for Glasser, who spent his own youth as an actor in such pics as "Pee-wee's Big Adventure" and "Pump Up the Volume"?
While Glasser admits that several foreign buyers couldn't help but comment on the resemblance during the recent AFM, he says it's only a coincidence.
"We hired (Muniz) because we wanted someone really hot," Glasser says. "We attached him in the first script two years ago, maybe longer."
"Agent Cody Banks" hits theaters March 14.
