Phone 'first'.

Cable company ntl Telewest claims its new Talk Anywhere landline phone service is the first of its kind - allowing consumers to call anywhere in the country, abroad or to a mobile phone for one fixed price, regardless of the time of day.

The service offers a choice of packages where consumers can buy 200, 400 or 800 minutes per month. The minutes can be used to phone local, national, international, mobile and internet numbers and the fixed monthly fee also includes phone line rental.

Talk Anywhere allows customers to roll over unused minutes and consumers can usually keep their existing number.

Jenny Lynn-Jones, director of telephony at ntl Telewest, said: "We were the first company to offer unlimited calling packages and now we're breaking the mould again."
