TELECOMWORLDWIRE-18 June 2008-Phoenix Worldwide Industries Inc introduces mobile surveillance platform(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Phoenix Worldwide Industries Inc (Phoenix), a Miami-based manufacturer of mobile vehicles/platforms used for homeland security, has introduced Urban Watch Mobile Surveillance Platform (UWMSP), a mobile surveillance platform, which is designed for use by municipalities, law enforcement and security organisations to provide surveillance in situations where fixed installations would be uneconomical or impractical.

The UWMSP is a fibreglass bodied enclosure intended for deployment on the back of a flat bed pickup or small truck, and resembles a demountable camper top. Phoenix have several different designs available, allowing the units to be configured for unmanned surveillance, Command and Control operations and other purposes.

The UWMSP is fitted with a retractable 60 foot mast on which Phoenix have mounted a single manoeuvrable (pan, tilt and zoom) high resolution camera and four fixed day/night cameras, which between them can provide a 360 degree view of the area around the UWMSP. All systems support video recording, monitoring, communication and control, allowing remote operation.

Additional mobile camera emplacements (Phoenix Mobile Intelligent Video Surveillance (MIVS) systems) can be carried in the vehicle and deployed as required to nearby vantage points, then wirelessly connected into the system. The optionally supplied remote cameras can operate either on the 801.22 standard or on the 3G telecomms band.
