Phoenix Technologies Opens New Office in Shenzhen, China; Enables Regional Responsive Marketing, Sales and Technical Support Service to Key OEM/ODM Customers in South China.

MILPITAS, Calif. & BEIJING -- Phoenix Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq:PTEC) announced today that it has expanded its South China footprint with the establishment of a new office in Shenzhen. This enables greater accessibility to Phoenix products and support services for OEM/ODM customers operating in the city, including Foxconn, Lenovo and QDI.

The new office will initially facilitate sales, marketing and technical support operations, and will later serve as a customer support center for Phoenix's growing South China customer base.

"Phoenix always strives to better understand our customers' evolving requirements," said Roger Cheung, China & Hong Kong general manager, Phoenix Technologies. "The opening of our Shenzhen office is a testament to our commitment to provide comprehensive sales, marketing and engineering support to our OEM customers in China, through our offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen."

Committed to China's Growth

Phoenix Technologies has been developing Core System Software in China since the opening of its R&D Center in 2000, enabling the company to create and provide services and products tailored for the Chinese market. With the support of its Beijing and Shanghai offices, Phoenix was able to successfully cover China's North and East coasts.

Opening an office in Shenzhen is a logical step to take in keeping with the company's strategy to increase presence in China's high-growth areas. One of the first cities in the Mainland to open doors to foreign direct investment, Shenzhen has become a key research and manufacturing hub for the Chinese IT industry over the past 20 years. Many reputable international and local IT vendors that work with Phoenix have set up manufacturing and R&D facilities in the city, including IBM, HDS, Foxconn and Lenovo.

"Phoenix Core System Software has set the standard with the world's leading branded PC OEMs through a global network of supply chain and software partners," said Steven Wan, general manager of QDI Technology Limited. "The increased presence in South China will definitely benefit us with greater accessibility to Phoenix's renowned products and support."

"Phoenix has a very fruitful collaboration with TCL Computer Technology," said Frank Wei, general manager of the TCL R&D Center. "The Phoenix Shenzhen office will help us to speed up our innovation efforts, benefit from faster time to market and realize our strategy of 'Value equals quality plus innovation plus application.'"
