Phillips Petroleum and Himont sign polypropylene agreement.

Phillips Petroleum, Borger, TX, has reached an agreement with Montedison Spa, Himont SpA and Himont Inc. for a polypropylene license arrangement and a settlement of pending litigation. According to Chemical Marketing Reporter (916193), the license, which is under three Phillips patents, covers the import into the U.S. of homopolymer, random copolymers and block polymers of propylene by Himont. The company has also obtained the U.S. import license rights for its customers as the patents also cover articles and compositions produced from the polymers. The litigation between Himont and Phillips, filed in 1991, has been settled in a Delaware court. Terms were not disclosed.
